A tremendous ball handler who could make plays in tiny spaces and create something out of nothing. One of the first great passers and setup man in league history. Led league in assists three times.

Greatly respected by all, he won 3 MVP's not in his prime but later in his career. Both an acknowledgement of his skill and also the esteem everyone held him in. A player capable of elevating his play for bigger situations, he won the playoff MVP in 1995. His skill and leadership earned him 5 Selects appearances.

Had a skill first, gentlemanly approach to the sport without losing any of his competitiveness. A leader and teacher who many fellow players learned a great deal from. Brought his ‘A’ game every time, regardless of injury or situation.

A love of the game that was palpable. A player who played the game with an inspiring passion. Hockey was in his soul and that along with his talent made him special.
